TL;DR
Lyophilized peptides store at –18°C (freezer) long-term, 2–8°C (refrigerator) short-term. Reconstituted peptides go in the fridge only — never the freezer — and stay potent ~30 days. In Filipino climate (28–34°C ambient), every minute outside the cold chain matters.
Why cold chain matters
Peptides are protein chains held together by hydrogen bonds and three-dimensional folding. Heat, light, agitation, and freeze-thaw cycles disrupt that structure. Disrupted peptides lose potency — sometimes silently. You won't always see cloudiness or particulates; you just get less effect per dose.

Three storage states
1. Lyophilized (powder, sealed vial)
- Long-term: –18°C freezer — stable 2–3 years
- Short-term: 2–8°C refrigerator — stable 60–90 days
- Room temp: avoid — OK for the few hours of shipping/transit, not for storage
2. Reconstituted (mixed with BAC water)
- 2–8°C refrigerator — stable ~30 days with BAC water
- NEVER freeze — ice crystals shred the peptide
- Keep away from light — use opaque container or wrap in foil
3. In transit (shipping)
- Insulated box + ice packs — maintains 2–8°C for 12–24 hours
- Same-day or next-day delivery for Metro Manila
- 2–3 days for provincial — ice packs sized accordingly
Receiving a shipment
- Open immediately upon arrival.
- Confirm ice packs are still cold. If cold (firm or partially frozen): vials are fine.
- Inspect each vial. Lyophilized powder should look uniform white/off-white, not melted, not yellowing.
- Move lyophilized vials to fridge (or freezer for long-term).
- Photograph any concerns and contact your supplier within 24 hours.
The Filipino-climate problem
Ambient temperature in the Philippines is 28–34°C year-round. A vial left on the counter for 4 hours has spent that time at temperatures 4–6× the recommended fridge target. Cumulative heat exposure adds up across a multi-week cycle.
Practical rules:
- Don't leave vials out of the fridge. Take out, draw dose, return immediately.
- Brownouts: a closed fridge holds 4°C for ~4 hours during a power outage. Don't open.
- Long brownouts: transfer to insulated cooler with ice. Battery backup or generator helps.
- Travel within PH: use a small cooler with ice pack. Don't pack peptides in checked luggage — cargo holds get hot/cold extremes.
Freezer vs fridge — which to use when
| State | Freezer (–18°C) | Fridge (2–8°C) |
|---|---|---|
| Lyophilized, <3 months use | OK | Better (no thaw cycle) |
| Lyophilized, long-term storage | Better | OK 60–90 days |
| Reconstituted | NEVER | Yes |
Each freeze-thaw cycle reduces potency. If you keep lyophilized vials in the freezer, plan to thaw what you need for 1–2 weeks at a time and move it to fridge.
Reconstitution best practices
Reviewed in detail at How to reconstitute Tirzepatide. Key cold-chain points:
- Bring vial to room temp (15–20 min) before reconstituting
- Use BAC water for multi-dose stability
- Swirl, never shake
- Label with reconstitution date
- Return to fridge immediately after dose draws
Travel protocol
Domestic (PH)
- Small insulated cooler + 2–3 frozen gel packs
- Carry-on, not checked
- For air travel: airline rules generally permit medical/peptides with a doctor's note (advisable but not always required)
International
- Lyophilized vials are more travel-resilient than reconstituted
- Bring a doctor's note or supplier documentation
- Keep vials in original packaging if possible
- Long flights: refresh ice packs at layovers if cooler temp is rising
Signs of degraded peptide
- Lyophilized: yellow/brown discoloration, partial liquefaction, cake collapse
- Reconstituted: cloudiness, particles, color change
- Subjective: dose that previously worked no longer suppresses appetite — a quiet sign of degradation
If in doubt, discard. The cost of a wasted vial is much less than the cost of a wasted week of dosing.
How this applies in the Philippines
Noki Labs uses insulated boxes with sized ice packs for every order. Metro Manila next-day, provincial 2–4 days. We track delivery temperature feedback and have replacement protocols if cold-chain breaks.

FAQ
Can I leave reconstituted Tirzepatide out for a few hours?
Brief room-temp exposure (1–2 hours, e.g., during dose draw) is OK. Don't leave it out overnight.
What if my fridge runs out of power?
Move vials to an insulated cooler with ice. Closed fridge holds cold for ~4 hours; closed freezer for ~24 hours.
Should I store lyophilized in the freezer or fridge?
Freezer for >3 months; fridge for shorter. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Is BAC water sensitive to temperature too?
BAC water is more forgiving — room temp is fine. Refrigerate after first puncture for cleanliness.
How do I know if my supplier maintained cold chain?
Look for an insulated box, intact ice packs (still cold), and quick delivery. Suspicious if box arrived warm.
